Tenerife's Teide National Park to Ban Cars in Peak Hours from 2026

Tenerife's Teide National Park is set to introduce a car restriction from 1 January 2026. The measure aims to protect the park's nature by encouraging the use of buses during peak visiting hours.

From next year, cars will be banned in the Teide National Park between 9 AM and 1:30 PM. This time frame coincides with the park's busiest hours. To accommodate this change, the number of buses will increase, and a new shuttle service will be established. Additionally, car parks are set to expand to cater to more visitors using public transportation.

The move is part of a broader effort to reduce the environmental impact of tourism in the park. Officials hope that by making buses the primary mode of transport during peak hours, they can help preserve the delicate ecosystem around the Teide.

From 1 January 2026, cars will be restricted in Tenerife's Teide National Park during peak visiting hours. The ban aims to promote bus usage and protect the park's nature. Visitors are advised to plan their trips accordingly, with increased bus services and expanded car parks set to support the change.
