Sofia Art Fair 2023: Bridging Eastern Europe with Global Art Scene
The second edition of the Sofia Art Fair (SAF) is set to take place from 2-5 October in Sofia, Bulgaria. This annual event aims to increase the country's visibility in global cultural circuits and invite the world to engage with its vibrant art scene.
SAF mirrors the complexity of today's art world, linking cultural value with social, economic, and environmental realities. This year's fair features 27 galleries from 12 countries and over 80 participating artists. Radoslav Mehandzhiyski, curator and co-organiser of SAF, sees the event as a statement of Eastern Europe's talent and vision in global art dialogue.
SAF Talks, a program featuring prominent figures in the art world, will take place during the fair. Highlights include Timothée Verecchia, Marc-Olivier Wahler, Eelco van der Lingen, Béatrice Alliot, and Christopher Springham. The fair aims to be a platform for culture, education, and international cooperation, reimagining Sofia as a hub for global cultural dialogue. It is transforming Bulgaria's capital into a meeting point for contemporary art and has ambitions beyond a typical art fair format.
The Sofia Art Fair is positioning itself as a bridge between Eastern Europe and the wider world market. With its focus on cultural exchange, education, and international cooperation, the fair is set to make a significant impact on global news and the art scene.
