Romania's longest summer sled track to debut at Sinaia mountain resort this season
Get ready for an exciting shift in Sinaia, Romania–the town known for its winter charm–is set to become a year-round tourist destination! The longest summer sledding track in the country is due to open up, approximately by August 1st. With an investment of RON 12 million (EUR 2.4 million), this thrilling adventure awaits just 120 km north of Bucharest.
The town, nestled among the mountains and home to the famous Peles Castle, usually sees a surge of tourists during the winter season. In fact, from November 28, 2024, to March 25, 2025, the Transport Urban authority registered a whopping two million accesses by skiers.
With the new summer sledding track, Sinaia hopes to draw tourists year-round. Maria Floricică, the general director of Transport Urban Sinaia, shared the details, "Our priority at the moment is the summer sled. We've already signed a contract for a single-rail sled installation, featuring 65 bob-style vehicles that will run from Cota 1400 to Cota 1000." At over two kilometers, this sled will undoubtedly be Romania's longest! The project is financed through the agency’s own funds and a bank loan.
Apart from the summer sled, Sinaia offers other exciting experiences. With major events and bike trails, it's soon going to be an unmissable summer destination!
Maria Floricică emphasized the importance of promoting tourism in Romania effectively. "Good promotion can be done, but it certainly requires a lot of funds and a great deal of communication," she said during a promotional event for mountain resorts.
So, buckle up and get ready for an exhilarating ride through the picturesque landscapes of Sinaia! Keep an eye out for more updates on this exciting development.
