Quarter One Passenger Count at Brașov Airport in Central Romania Doubles Compared to Previous Year
Here's the rewritten article:
Holy smokes, folks! Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport in central Romania's seen some serious action this year, recording a whopping 56,897 passengers in Q1—that's more than double the number from the same period in 2024, when only 27,885 travelers were documented!
The Romanian Airports Association's statistics paint an impressive picture, placing Brasov-Ghimbav back on the 9th spot in the country's passenger traffic ranking. Turns out, they registered 19,855 travelers in March alone[3]!
Excited about the upswing, the Brasov County Council shouted it out on Facebook: "Brace yourself, Romania! Brasov-Ghimbav Airport's passenger traffic soared over 100% in Q1 2025 compared to the same period in 2024!"
In the first quarter of 2025, a grand total of 56,897 passengers flew through Brasov International Airport, more than twice the 27,885 passengers registered in the same period last year[3].
When it comes to cargo, the Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport's still holding firm in 5th place among Romania's 17 airports, moving 54.31 tons during Q1[3].
Last December, air carrier Fly Lili decided to momentarily halt flights to and from Brasov-Ghimbav due to low passenger numbers[2]. This was quite a punch to the airport, considering Dan Air's exit a year prior.
Opened in June 2023[4], the Brașov Airport is the first built in Romania in the last 50 years, following an EUR 140 million investment[4].

By 2025, the anticipated number of passengers using Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport might surge even further, as the promising Q1 statistics suggest. With 56,897 travelers already recorded this year, a significant increase from the 27,885 passengers in 2024, it's clear that lifestyle choices and travel preferences among Romania's populace are evolving. As a consequence, it's not unlikely that Brasov-Ghimbav will continues to add to its impressive passenger traffic numbers in the upcoming years, potentially climbing higher in Romania's airport rankings.
