The "Gemeinsam STARK" exhibition, a travelling display created by the State Sports Association of Saxony-Anhalt, is currently on show at the Literature House in Magdeburg over the summer months. This exhibition aims to raise awareness and challenge the prevalence of homophobia, transphobia, and sexism in sports, particularly focusing on the challenges faced by athletes who are homosexual or identify as transgender.

The "Gemeinsam STARK" project, a municipality-based initiative in Germany, contributes to the mental health and well-being of youth by likely fostering inclusion of LGBTQ+ youth in sports and other community settings. While specific program documents or official reports solely focusing on "Gemeinsam STARK" and sports were not found, the project’s focus on community-based approaches to mental health suggests an inclusive framework that could support diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.

Broader initiatives in Germany are also tackling inclusivity in gender-diverse spaces such as mixed-gender locker rooms, emphasising self-identification and acceptance of all genders. This reflects an ongoing effort to adapt sports environments to be more inclusive for transgender and non-binary people.

In addition, grassroots activism and workshops, like those by the group "Radikale Töchter," use artistic activism to promote equality and sisterhood, indirectly benefitting sports environments by shifting cultural attitudes.

The exhibition serves as a platform to spark dialogue and promote change within the sports community, aiming to foster a more inclusive and accepting environment in sports for all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. It is a timely reminder that in various societal areas, including sports and politics, the topic of homosexuality remains taboo in many circles.

The "Gemeinsam STARK" exhibition is a significant step towards creating a more inclusive sports community in Germany, aiming to address and challenge the diverse forms of discrimination that LGBTQ+ athletes face. By raising awareness and fostering dialogue, the exhibition hopes to contribute to a more accepting and supportive environment for all athletes, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
