Northern Kentucky Tourism Thrives in 2024, Generates $2.2 Billion
Northern Kentucky's tourism sector flourished in 2024, maintaining a robust 65.4% hotel occupancy rate. The region ranked second in the state for tourism impact, generating a significant $2.2 billion in economic activity. meetNKY, the region's convention and visitors bureau, marked these achievements at its 2025 Annual Meeting, themed 'Tourism in Motion', held at The Gallery in Newport.
The organization, soon to relocate to the OneNKY Center in Covington, brought together stakeholders to discuss future growth. BLINK, the popular light-based art event, returned and expanded to Newport through strategic partnerships. meetNKY plans to focus on outdoor recreation in 2025, showcasing Erlanger's Eons Adventure Park. The bureau also secured over 48,000 future room nights, translating to a $25 million economic impact, thanks to its convention sales team.
To enhance visitor experience, meetNKY installed digital kiosks and wayfinding signage in Covington. The bureau also added a vibrant mural to the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, a result of a collaboration with ArtsWave.
Northern Kentucky's tourism industry continues to thrive, with meetNKY leading the way. The bureau's new location, expanded events like BLINK, and initiatives such as the outdoor recreation focus and improved visitor navigation promise an exciting future for the region's tourism scene.
