Merging music and aesthetics under the artistic direction of Eric Nyffeler
Meet Eric Nyffeller, the Multi-Talented Designer and Musician
Eric Nyffeler, hailing from the heartland of Nebraska but residing now in the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon, is a graphic designer, illustrator, and musician. His distinctive style of gritty geometry, analog textures, and vintage whimsy has graced some of the most prestigious walls and publications in the nation.
So, who is this versatile artist, and what led him to leverage his creativity across so many mediums?
His initial foray into design started as a practical matter – saving money on designing his own band's merchandise. However, it wasn't long before Nyffeler realized that design was his true calling, and he found himself creating pastel trees and adorable critters for clients worldwide in a century-old studio nestled in a former cereal manufacturing factory.
Current Projects
A peek into Nyffeler's workspace reveals a bustling hub of creativity, with anywhere from ten to twenty projects in various stages of progress. This week, he's been working on a unique guitar pedal design for a Canadian musical instrument company, drafting the album art for his favorite band, creating editorial illustrations, and designing fake videogames for a tech giant based in the Bay Area.
Passions beyond Design
Beyond his design work, music takes center stage in Nyffeler's life. Since age 15, he has been a part of numerous eccentric bands, and his obsession with musical equipment has led to collaborations with instrument and gear designers across the globe. His musical endeavors have enriched his design career by offering fresh perspectives and unique collaborations.
Creative Advice
One piece of advice that Nyffeler finds invaluable is to never shy away from seeking opportunities. To succeed, you must make yourself visible to potential clients and seize every chance for growth.
