Kuban's Agricultural Tourism Boom: Snail Farming to Wine Tours

Kuban, a region in southern Russia, has seen a boom in agricultural tourism, with over 100 objects now offering a variety of activities. This includes wine and tea tours, horseback riding, hunting and fishing, and visits to mussel and oyster farms. The region has also seen an increase in tourists, with numbers rising by 7 million over the past decade to reach over 20 million vacationers.

One of the stars of this agricultural tourism scene is the humble garden snail. Once considered a pest, it is now a delicacy and a key attraction. Elena and Viktor Filchuk founded an agro-tourism complex featuring a garden snail farm, offering guests snails prepared in six different sauces. Viktor believes snail meat has positive effects on demographics, acting as a natural aphrodisiac.

Meanwhile, Igor and Liya Strugovshikov produce 35 types of cheese and conduct gastronomic tours. Their 'aviator' cheese has astonished European experts at prestigious exhibitions. Agricultural tourism is particularly popular in Kuban, with over 100 objects now offering a range of activities.

The rise of agricultural tourism in Kuban is evident, with a significant increase in tourist numbers and a diverse range of attractions. From wine tours to snail tasting, the region offers unique experiences that are drawing in more visitors each year.
