This move is part of a strategic partnership with the global aviation training organization, Airways Aviation Group. The collaboration aims to deliver top-tier pilot training, reinforcing PAL's commitment to operational excellence, safety, and workforce development.

After a thorough evaluation process, Airways Aviation's Australian-based academy was selected for its exceptional track record in delivering internationally aligned pilot training programs. Capt. Stanley Ng, PAL's president and COO, praised Airways Aviation for meeting stringent requirements on safety culture and competency-based training methodologies.

This collaboration entails a seamless blend of foundational training in the Philippines and hands-on flight instruction in Australia. The cadets, following screening and foundation training, will advance to Airways Aviation's Australian campuses for further aviation theory and practical training with expert faculty and industry-leading technology.

Romy Hawatt, founder and chairman of Airways Aviation, expressed honor at being chosen as the official training provider for PAL's next generation of pilots. The partnership represents a mutual recognition of global training capabilities and shared values, according to Hawatt.

Meanwhile, Janet Dalby, CEO of Airways Aviation Group for Australasia and the Pacific, emphasized the partnership's contribution to national workforce development objectives in the Philippines.

In other PAL news, the airline celebrated its 84th anniversary by launching a special dessert selection, available until May 31, 2025, in select destinations. The new menu showcases bite-sized desserts, chocolate ganache, Filipino meringue cookies, and more, all designed to honor the airline's commitment to providing exceptional service.

In an unrelated incident, Lidwina Sanchez, 88, was surprised with a sumptuous dinner at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino prepared by her children. The entire family collaborated to create this memorable evening, with some siblings donning red to mark the milestone. Lidwina, still active as the president of OCS Lending, even joined the post-dinner dancing, much to the delight of her family and friends.
