Traffic Alert: Gridlock Anticipated During Upcoming Holidays - ADAC Warns of Bottlenecks

The automobile association ADAC in Saxony anticipates increased traffic congestion during Ascension Day and Pentecost in the Free State. While the traffic flow on long-distance routes is anticipated to run smoothly, the bottleneck between Dresden Old Town and the Nossen triangle on the A4 (Görlitz-Eisenach) is expected to cause delays.

Construction work on the bottleneck between Dresden and Nossen will continue until year-end. However, the construction work in Wilsdruff is expected to be completed by Ascension Day, making the bypass between Nossen and Wilsdruff available without significant congestion.

ADAC advises that these holidays, traditionally popular for excursions, will bring higher traffic volumes on routes leading to the tourist regions of Saxony. The construction activities on the state's roads and bridges may cause inconvenience and require patience from travelers.

Possible congestion points on federal highways encompass the B171 in Marienberg (both directions), the B101 in Schwarzenberg, the B169 in Schneeberg and Gablenz, the B80 in Lugau/Erdmannsdorf, the B92 to the Thuringia state border, and the border crossing of the A17 in Breitenau towards Prague.

ADAC recommends traveling during off-peak hours, such as early in the morning or late in the evening, to avoid heavy traffic. Before departure, drivers should check current traffic reports, plan alternative routes, and utilize navigation services. Regular breaks should be taken on longer journeys, and patience is encouraged.

Expected Congestion Points:- Major Autobahns: Particularly those connecting key cities and tourist destinations.- Popular Tourist Routes: Roads leading to scenic areas, mountainous regions, and lakes.

Travel Tips by ADAC:- Departure: Consider leaving early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid peak traffic times.- Route Planning: Utilize traffic apps or maps to find alternative routes, which can help reduce travel time.- Breaks: Take regular breaks at rest stops to manage fatigue and reduce the risk of accidents.- Real-Time Updates: Stay informed about current traffic conditions through radio or apps for efficient navigation through congested areas.

Industry and finance sectors might experience disruptions due to increased absenteeism as workers choose to travel during the upcoming holidays, leading to potential productivity losses.

Lifestyle choices could culminate in more vehicles on public-transit systems, causing delays and increased demand for tickets in urban areas.

Transportation beyond automobile travel, such as trains, buses, and planes, may face similar challenges due to surges in travelers during the holidays.

The automobile and automotive industries may witness a temporary boom in sales before the holidays, as people prepare for travel or upgrade their vehicles for the journey.
