HMV Marks 10 Years: Celebrating Home, Tradition, and Diversity

The Heimvereinigung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (HMV) marked its 10th anniversary on September 27th, 2025, at the City Cultural House of Ribnitz-Damgarten. The celebration, which was open to all, showcased the association's commitment to preserving and developing the concept of home in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

HMV, founded in Witzin near Sternberg in May 2015, has been dedicated to preserving traditions, fostering social cohesion, and embracing new influences through immigration. The anniversary celebrations began with an expert forum on intangible cultural heritage and a performance by the Mecklenburg-Pomeranian Folklore Ensemble 'Richard Wossidlo' Ribnitz-Damgarten 1962.

Martin Buchsteiner, the chairman of HMV, emphasized that 'home is never finished'. He highlighted the association's goal to bridge the gap between tradition and the present, shaping home as open, diverse, and alive under the motto 'Highmaat'.

The event also saw honorary awards presented to individuals and groups who have contributed significantly to preserving and promoting the concept of home. Notably, the seven founding members of HMV were honoured with a special prize for their commitment.

HMV's 10th anniversary celebration was a testament to its volunteers' dedication and the association's vision of home. Looking ahead, HMV continues to preserve traditions, create encounters, and foster social cohesion, ensuring that the concept of home remains vibrant and inclusive.
