Fashion Legend Giorgio Armani Dies at 91; Milan's Pinacoteca di Brera Honors Him
Fashion icon Giorgio Armani, often hailed as the 'maestro', passed away on 28 September 2025 at the age of 91. To celebrate his 50-year career, an exhibition named 'Giorgio Armani: Milano, per Amore' was held at Pinacoteca di Brera, marking fashion's first entry into the prestigious art gallery.
The exhibition, curated by Angelo Crespi, director of Pinacoteca di Brera, ran from 12 October 2025 until 11 January 2026. It showcased Armani's essentiality and rigour, embodying Milan's character, as praised by Crespi. The display featured pieces from the last 50 years, chosen to interplay with the artworks of masters like Raphael, Caravaggio, and Tintoretto.
The tribute event ended with a grand party, celebrating Armani's life and legacy in true Armani style. Despite the search for luxury conglomerates interested in acquiring Armani's multi-billion-dollar empire after his death, no information has been found regarding the names of these potential buyers.
Giorgio Armani's family has been instructed to sell the fashion empire to a luxury conglomerate like LVMH or L'Oréal. Meanwhile, his legacy lives on at Pinacoteca di Brera, where his exhibition 'Giorgio Armani: Milano, per Amore' paid homage to his louche glamour and sinuous line, capturing the essence of Milan and Pantelleria.
