Far East Russia's Summer 2025 Tourism Surge: Primorye Leads the Way

In the summer of 2025, the Far East region of Russia experienced a surge in tourism, with 82% of visitors exploring Primorye, 10% visiting Sakhalin, and 8% discovering Kamchatka. This notable shift in tourist preferences is driven by substantial investments and enhanced infrastructure in these regions.

The Far East's popularity has surged, with its share in Russia's total tourist trips surpassing 5%. In the summer of 2025 alone, 1.92 million Russians explored the region. Primorye, in particular, has seen a monthly growth in tourist traffic of 20-35%.

The region's appeal can be attributed to various factors. Primorye's popularity is boosted by large investments in hotels, improved transport accessibility, proximity to major centers, lower prices, and a diverse range of offerings. The increase in tourist traffic across the Far East is linked to infrastructure development, investment projects, and the promotion of unique tourist products. By the end of the first seven months of 2025, tourist traffic to the Far East increased by 7.3% year-on-year.

Around a third of Primorye's tourists hail from neighboring regions. However, demand for trips to Sakhalin and Kamchatka has decreased this year, indicating a shift in tourist preferences.

The Far East's tourism boom is a testament to the successful implementation of investment projects and infrastructure development, driven by coordinated efforts of the Russian government under President Vladimir Putin. The region's unique offerings and favorable conditions have attracted a significant number of tourists, with Primorye leading the way. As the region continues to grow and diversify its tourism offerings, it is poised to become an increasingly popular destination for both domestic and international travelers.
