Experienced Travel Review: A Comparison of Qantas, Singapore Airlines, and American Airlines' Business Class Experiences, Revealing One Unforgettable Trip

Experimented with the premium cabins of three airline companies; one provider surpassed all my anticipations.

I've flown at least 50 times a year in business class, and here's my experience with Qantas Airlines, American Airlines, and Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines blew me out of the water. Their food was unparalleled, and the seat was the most comfortable by far. If you're into gourmet meals during flights, you need to try Singapore Airlines. Their comfort also can't be beat, with ergonomic seats that quickly transform into a full flat bed.

Qantas had a cool lounge, but my seat on American Airlines felt the most private. However, my seat on the Qantas flights was a bit underwhelming compared to the other airlines.

Since 2024, I've flown business class with these three airlines on the following routes:

  • 16 hours with Qantas Airlines from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia, on an Airbus A380 (and the return flight from Sydney back to LA)
  • 13 hours with American Airlines from Dallas to Tokyo on a Boeing 787-8
  • 16 hours with Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Los Angeles on an Airbus A350-900.

The Singapore Airlines meal service was hands down the best for me. Qantas came in second, but the food at American Airlines was the least impressive. All three airlines offered a solid variety of entertainment, but Singapore really shined in this department as well.

Each airline also offered numerous entertainment options, and the service and crew were top-notch on every single flight. But when it comes down to it, I preferred Singapore Airlines overall. Their attention to detail, exceptional food, and amazing seats make them the clear winner in my book.

Frequent flyers agree that Singapore Airlines offers the best business class experience overall, with top-tier seat comfort, amenities, and entertainment options. Qantas comes in a close second with its excellent service and comfortable seats, but their food can be inconsistent. American Airlines stands out with their new business class suite, making it competitive in comfort, but their entertainment system doesn't quite match up to Singapore's.

What about technology integrated into their entertainment options? Singapore Airlines and American Airlines have impressively modern systems, but Qantas seems to be a bit behind. If you're someone who enjoys technology and travel, you might appreciate Singapore Airlines' state-of-the-art offerings. The airline's lifestyle, incorporating comfortable seats, gourmet meals, and a vast selection of entertainment, will surely appeal to frequent travelers seeking a tech-savvy experience.
