Dubai's Main Airport Takes Lead in Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern Air Transportation Network

Dubai International Airport (DXB) solidifies its standing as the foremost aviation hub in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region, as per the Airports Council International's (ACI) 2024 Air Connectivity Ranking.

This prestigious position is earned due to the airport's extensive network of over 265 connections spanning six continents. This wide-reaching network emphasizes DXB's critical role in global trade, tourism, and the creation of sustainable economic opportunities.

Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, expressed his satisfaction with this recognition. "Connectivity is paramount in global aviation," he said, "and we are delighted to see DXB positioned once more as the region's leading connector in ACI's 2024 Air Connectivity Ranking."

What sets DXB apart is not merely the size of its network but the consistent and premium quality of connections it offers. In his statement, Griffiths emphasized that "combining reach with efficiency is vital, ensuring swift, hassle-free, and secure journeys for countless travelers each year."

Last month, DXB was reinstated as the World's Busiest International Airport. An impressive 92.3 million passengers passed through its gates in 2024, surpassing the previous high of 89.1 million in 2018. In response, Dubai's ruler and UAE Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, lauded the airport as a "global success story" and revealed aspirations to expand DXB's reach to 400 international destinations, up from the current 272.

The Middle East region, spearheaded by DXB, witnessed a substantial 28% growth in passenger connectivity in 2024, underscoring the airport's leading role as a hub. This growth is attributed to the shared commitment among airline partners, the airport community, and the city of Dubai, fostering a collaborative model of airport connectivity that serves both regional and global significance.

Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, highlighted the importance of offering high-quality travel connections, stating, "Combining reach with efficiency is vital, ensuring swift, hassle-free, and secure journeys for countless travelers each year." Given Dubai International Airport's (DXB) extensive network, calculated lifestyle, and commitment to sports and tourism, Griffiths also sees potential for expanding DXB's reach to 400 international destinations, which could increase the airport's global influence in sports, lifestyle, travel, and trade.
