Colombian EV Charging Startup Ergenia Eyes International Expansion

Ergenia, a startup from Colombia established in 2023, is targeting international growth, with Argentina among the markets being considered. The company specialises in setting up, operating, and maintaining charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs), supporting their adoption through intelligent infrastructure.

Ergenia operates in two main segments: B2C and B2B. The B2C segment focuses on public charging for private users, while B2B caters to commercial fleets. The company's offering maximises efficiency for both users and operators through visualisation and user behaviour analysis.

Currently, Ergenia expects to close 2025 with 8 to 10 public charging stations installed in Bogotá, complemented by private fleet projects. The company aims to expand to Medellín and plans to install 80 operational stations across Colombia within five years.

Ergenia's expansion plans come amidst Colombia's rapid EV adoption, with 7,503 units registered between January and May 2025, a 199.8% increase from the previous year. Vicente Lanza, CEO and co-founder of Ergenia, defines the startup's proposal as a scalable model that combines technology, sustainability, and frictionless access, ensuring charging infrastructure keeps pace with EV growth.
